Por tanto, mirad por vosotros, y por todo el rebaño en que el Espíritu Santo os ha puesto por obispos, para apacentar la iglesia del Señor, la cual él ganó por su propia sangre. Hechos 20.28
Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello, pues haciendo esto, te salvarás a ti mismo y a los que te oyeren. 1 Timoteo. 4.16
Dile a mis pastores que me devuelvan MI IGLESIA. Diles que NO SON SUS ovejas sino MIS ovejas, Diles que si no las aman, las cuidan y las alimentan YO MISMO las llevo a otro rebaño. Diles que son simplemente los mayordomos que he puesto para cuidar de ellas. Dile a mis pastores que YO les he dado recursos para que edifiquen MI REINO y no el suyo.
En toda ciudad y nación donde Dios nos ha permitido estar nos estamos hallando con pastores que han caído moralmente, que han sufrido grandes divisiones en sus Iglesias, que han pasado por un divorcio, que han caído enfermos de gravedad o en algunos casos que han muerto prematuramente. La razones de esto son variadas pero casi sin excepción las causas son al consecuencia de lo que yo he observado como los siete peligros del liderazgo Espiritual.
Los promedios de ministerios en crisis son alarmantes, el Desánimo, la depresión, los problemas familiares, la infidelidad, el divorcio y aún el abandono al ministerio están creciendo cada día más.
Pastores en homosexualismo, doctrinas falsas (Patriarcado), pastores auto-suficientes, y muchos otros males son parte de una Iglesia enferma que necesita entrar en arrepentimiento para evitar el ser expuestos y avergonzados.
Aunque en Latinoamérica no se han hecho estudios ni encuestas sobre el tema, creo que las siguientes estadísticas son indicativas de lo que está ocurriendo en nuestros medios y parece que todos queremos ignorarlo o simplemente negar lo que ocurre siempre y cuando no nos afecte personalmente.
Al ministro:
• 75% de los pastores reportan una crisis estresante al menos una vez al mes.
• 40% reportan un serio conflicto con uno de sus miembros mensualmente.
• 85% dicen que su mayor problema es el estar cansados de lidiar con la gente.
• 70% de los pastores reportan batallar con la depresión.
• 50% de los pastores están tan desanimados que abandonarían el ministerio si hallaran otra manera de vivir.
A Sus familias:
• 80% de los pastores y 84% de sus cónyuges viven desanimados y batallan con la depresión.
• 40% de los pastores y 47% de sus cónyuges sufren de desgaste físico y emocional por sus agendas y las demandas del ministerio
• 49% reportan que sus familias han sufrido significativamente como resultado de las presiones y demandas del ministerio
• 80% de os pastores reportan que el ministerio ha afectado negativamente a sus familias.
• La mayoría de los cónyuges dijeron que el evento más destructivo para su familia fue el día que sus esposos entraron al m9inisterio.
• 50% de los matrimonios pastorales terminan en divorcio
• Cerca del 40% de los pastores confesaron haber tenido una relación sexual extra marital.
• 95% de los pastores no oran regularmente con sus cónyuges
• En los EUA más de 15,000 pastores abandonan el ministerio anualmente.
Every profession, including Christian ministry and leadership, has its perils—seven (7) of which we will briefly review here in no particular order. These seven potentially destructive perils of Christian ministry and leadership are: pride, lust, greed, power, offense, discouragement, and anxiety. To which of these are you more vulnerable. It is our responsibility to know our strengths (gifts) and weaknesses (vulnerabilities) so that we can be both offensive and defensive in the spiritual battle of life and kingdom work. Could I suggest that you perhaps read this article among your support group and share how these perils rank in your own experience?
1. Orgullo.
Altivez de ojos, y orgullo de corazón,
Y pensamiento de impíos, son pecado. Provérbios 21.4
Pride is what caused Satan himself to fall from heaven. Pride is an inordinate self-esteem; a tendency to be ostentatious and showy. In other words, pride is egoism and arrogance. Many don’t realized that pride is almost always the cloak of insecurity and jealousy—the fear of being displaced. The opposite of pride is humility—which literally means to be lowly minded. Humble people have no problem recognizing and praising the grace of God in others. Jesus was the epitome of humility. Humble people are great learners whereas proud people know it all. The humble are always on a journey of discovery whereas the proud have already arrived at their final destination. If you and I want to by leaders that last then we must always make the quest for humility a never ending journey of discovery. Proverbs goes so far as to assert that the wisdom of God is the partner of humility. When you live in the constant presence of the Lord it’s hard to be proud. After all, compared to Jesus none of us have anything to boast of. Since I am only his steward-servant I am owned by another and can take no credit for that which I have been given. In fact, the only thing that the Scripture allows us to boast of (or literally, “to be proud of”) is in the Lord himself—specifically that we are recipients of his attributes and actions of kindness, justice, and righteousness.
La Iglesia hoy día padece de APOSTOLITIS, una grave enfermedad cuyos síntomas son el querer vivir la Gloria sin pagar el precio de la Cruz. La Biblia dice que algunos se desvían a VANA PALABRERIA, queriendo ser doctores de la ley sin entender ni lo que hablan ni lo que afirman. Aquí la palabra habla de muchos quienes suponen ser maestros, les gusta oírse a si mismo s hablar pero no tienen nada sustancioso que decir (1 Timoteo 1.6-7)
Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas; Mateo 11.29
3Nada hagáis por contienda o por vanagloria; antes bien con humildad, estimando cada uno a los demás como superiores a él mismo; 4no mirando cada uno por lo suyo propio, sino cada cual también por lo de los otros. Fil. 2.3.4
2. Lujuria o Codicia
Mas estas cosas sucedieron como ejemplos para nosotros, para que no codiciemos cosas malas, como ellos codiciaron. 1 Cor. 10.6
9¡Ay del que codicia injusta ganancia para su casa, para poner en alto su nido, para escaparse del poder del mal! Habacuc 2.9
Son deseos fuera de control. Paul warns that if we do not work to discipline our bodily passions then we may end up being disqualified from ministry—regardless of how well we preach. Forgiveness from sin is one thing, but deliverance from evil is another. Lust is so insidious and pervasive. Indeed, the entire world has been corrupted with the lust that was unleashed at Eden by the fall of our original ancestors Adam and Eve. The only solution to escaping this lust is to renew our minds, seek God’s will wholeheartedly, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Since lust is often associated with eyes –and by extension to what we visualize in our “minds eye”–there needs to be a discipline brought to what we allow ourselves to look at.

12Bienaventurado el varón que soporta la tentación; porque cuando haya resistido la prueba, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido a los que le aman. 13Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de parte de Dios; porque Dios no puede ser tentado por el mal, ni él tienta a nadie; 14sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído y seducido. 15Entonces la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, da a luz el pecado; y el pecado, siendo consumado, da a luz la muerte. Santiago1:12-15
El 53% de los hombre que asistieron a Hombres de Promesa confiesan haber visto Pornografía la semana anterior.
El 51% de los pastores admiten que el mirar la pornografía en el internet es su mayor tentación.
3. Avaricia o Codicia
Y les dijo: Mirad, y guardaos de toda avaricia; porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee. Lucas 12.15
La vida Cristiana no consiste en los bienes que posees sino en los ideales que persigues.
Sean vuestras costumbres sin avaricia, contentos con lo que tenéis ahora; porque él dijo: No te desampararé, ni te dejaré; 6de manera que podemos decir confiadamente: El Señor es mi ayudador; no temeré Lo que me pueda hacer el hombre. Hebreos 13.5.6
1Pero hubo también falsos profetas entre el pueblo, como habrá entre vosotros falsos maestros, que introducirán encubiertamente herejías destructoras, y aun negarán al Señor que los rescató, atrayendo sobre sí mismos destrucción repentina. 2Y muchos seguirán sus disoluciones, por causa de los cuales el camino de la verdad será blasfemado, 3y por avaricia harán mercadería de vosotros con palabras fingidas. Sobre los tales ya de largo tiempo la condenación no se tarda, y su perdición no se duerme. 2 Pedro2.1-3
La avaricia es verdaderamente una forma de lujuria que está dirigida a la adquisición de dinero y riquezas especialmente dinero más del que no es necesario para nuestras necesidades. Tal vez el mejor antídoto para esta enfermedad espiritual es buscar el contentamiento, es decir aprender a limitar nuestros deseos por las cosas esenciales y no por las que deseamos materiales. Dios prometió suplir nuestra necesidad no nuestra avaricia.
5disputas necias de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que toman la piedad como fuente de ganancia; apártate de los tales. 6Pero gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento; 7porque nada hemos traído a este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar. 8Así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos contentos con esto. 9Porque los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias necias y dañosas, que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición; 10porque raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, el cual codiciando algunos, se extraviaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores. 1 Timoteo 6.5-10
Poder y Control
Porque el Hijo del Hombre no vino para ser servido, sino para servir, y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos .Marcos 10.45
El Poder es la habilidad de controlar, o tomar autoridad o influenciar a otros. El Poder está directamente relacionado con el tener control y adueñarse sobre otros. El peligro grande del Poder es el olvidarnos de nuestra condición de server y ser siervos. Hemos oído el adagio El poder corrompe y el poder absoluto corrompe absolutamente. Cualquiera sea el poder, control o autoridad que Dios nos ha permitido ejercer, debe ser solamente para empoderar y promover a aquellas personas y causas que le den la Gloria a Él solamente. Dios te da autoridad para empadrar, liderar y proveer cobertura a tus hijos espirituales. Para que seas cobertura y no tapa.
4. Ofensa
Y por esto procuro tener siempre una conciencia sin ofensa ante Dios y ante los hombres. Hechos 24.16
19Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oír, tardo para hablar, tardo para airarse. Santiago 1.19
La ofensa is a fact of life. When we are offended we are made to stumble usually through anger over some injustice done. Our sense of justice is violated and we easily pass verdicts on others—that usually require some sort of vengeance, penalty or punishment. Unfortunately this spirit of offense can too easily cause us to become judgmental, accusatory, and slanderous of others. If we do not learn to deflect offense we will always become part of the problem and not the solution. Leaders who learn how to redemptively deal with offense become skilled in peacemaking rather than too quick to declare war. There is a time for war , but too often war among family members, friends, work associates, neighbors, church people, and nations is the result of the anger of man (or woman) rather than the righteousness of God. As leaders we are called to be skilled in deflecting offense so that we train our people in negotiating peace rather than in waging incessant wars. “Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with one another” is the biblical injunction . For if we cannot be at peace with one another in the family of God how are we ever to be called to bring his peace to the nations of the world? Don’t always react in the flesh when you are offended. Learn to respond in the spirit by adopting the proverb: Rather than be offended I choose to be instructed. And if you are quick to learn then you will be apt to teach—which is a primary requirement for those called to lead the people of God.
5. Desánimo o Desmayo
Considerad a aquel que sufrió tal contradicción de pecadores contra sí mismo, para que vuestro ánimo no se canse hasta desmayar .Hebreos 12.3
No nos cansemos, pues, de hacer bien; porque a su tiempo segaremos, si no desmayamos. Gálatas 6.9
DISCOURAGEMENT means to deprive of courage or confidence or to dishearten. In Hebrew, to discourage literally means to “let the hands hang down.” In other words, when discouraged there is no strength to lift up one’s hands to work for fear that danger, opposition or hardship will bring our efforts to nothing. So why try at all?! Make no mistake about it, God wants all of us his servants to live in this world with a spirit of courage to face every day. The enemy’s key objective is to sow discouragement into our hearts so that we cannot persist in the work of the Lord—especially as difficulty approaches or continues to swirl about us. Even if you or I need to make some major course correction in life or in ministry, we should still do it with a spirit of encouragement that God is leading us in another direction. We must always resist the temptation to discouragement because even when God is disciplining us he only does it for our ultimate benefit. We may not feel happy about it all the time, but even when we’re circumstantially unhappy we still have every right to feel the joy of the Lord as our strength. Are you prone to discouragement? This temptation is a serious peril that will plague us in leadership until we learn how to persevere in trial and to unyieldingly trust in the Lord with our whole heart even in time of darkness.
Así que, hermanos míos amados, estad firmes y constantes, creciendo en la obra del Señor siempre, sabiendo que vuestro trabajo en el Señor no es en vano. 1 Corintios 15.58
Y vosotros, hermanos, no os canséis de hacer bien. 2 Tes. 3.11
6. Ansiedad Y Afán
Por nada estéis afanosos, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias. 7Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones y vuestros pensamientos en Cristo Jesús. Fil 4.6.7
Así que, no os afanéis por el día de mañana, porque el día de mañana traerá su afán. Basta a cada día su propio mal. Mateo 6.34
La ansiedad is an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension (or fear) often marked by self-doubt regarding one’s capacity to cope with an impending challenge of some sort. Acute anxiety can even become virtually paralyzing requiring medication and intense therapy to cope with merely functioning day to day. As leaders we are called to personally overcome our fears and apprehensions so as to be an example of how others can experience God’s peace and strength as we learn to live by grace through faith. Again, though we all struggle with anxiety at times, a number of leaders are more susceptible than others. Anxiety is traced by some health professionals as symptomatic of those who have been left alone too much in their childhood or youth . Anxiety nearly always deals with a fear of or in the future. As a result, anxiety can be greatly alleviated when we learn to live in the here and now. Jesus said for us not to worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. The implication is that rather than worrying about the past or obsessing about the future; we must focus our attention on the now of our existence. That is not to say that it is wrong to resolve the past or to hopefully plan for the future. Rather, we should not allow the preoccupation with either the past or the future to usurp the main reality of our being—the here and now. After all, the past is in the past and the future will wait until we get there. But since Jesus promised never to leave us we have a reason for our confidence to face each day.
All of these perils of leadership: pride, lust, greed, power, offense, discouragement and anxiety must be taken seriously if we are to be effective servant-leaders in our respective spheres of ministry. My friend, how are you doing handling these perils? Are you struggling with one or two in particular? If so, please share this with your spouse and/or support group for prayer, counsel, and accountability. You and I were destined to win. No scheme of the enemy can prevail against us if we with humility, truth, and grace face our fears and temptations. Along with our co-laborers in Christ let us courageously confront the perils of our calling with confidence in a God who promised to finish the work he also began in us.
